            Are we Grasshoppers?

We'll be looking in the book of numbers chapter 13:30-33.

30. And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.

31. But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.

32. And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.

33. And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.

When we have God on our side we should not look at ourselves as grasshoppers! The men had a spirit of fear because of how big the men were that they saw. The spirit of fear is from the devil. There faith was not strong enough to overcome this.

When we come to a place in our walk with Christ, that makes us fear something. Do we fear because we have Christ? Or do we fear because we have forgotten Christ? I do believe that many of us in our walk with Christ have become grasshoppers. We think that everything is bigger than us and we forget that Christ is in us.

We go to church, and sit in our seats, and listen to the sermon. But do we ever get involved in what the church is all about? Or do we sit in our seats as grasshoppers fearing what might be over the next hill? We do the motions but fear the action that needs to be taken to do God's work. What excuse will we use on judgement day for doing this? That we were grasshoppers? And the big bad unsaved bully next door had a bigger mouth than you, so you never went and talked to him about Christ? Etc...

There are many things that can be done to help those who want to do the work for Christ. Do you drive a car? Run errands for the pastor so his time is freed up to do more of the lords work. Can you answer phones? Know how to run off copies of papers? know how to type? Know how to put together a bullington for the church? Know how to use a computer? Have web site skills? Know how to baby sit? So that the parents can go into the mission field for short periods of time to do the lord's work.

All of these things can free up other members of the church to do God's work. Can you do these things? Then find out where you can put these things to use for the body of Christ! Or you can sit in your seat at the church and only wish you could do something. Which will you be when it comes to the body of Christ? The grasshoppers who fear everything? Or someone who knows they are a child of God and is ready to take on what ever God has them to do to help bring in the harvest? Tomorrow is promised to no one! If you wait until tomorrow, it maybe to late.

What kind of person is God?

God made us in his own image. So if we are abiding by his commandments and laws of his word, treat others as He would tell us to. And do it all in his name for His glory. Then all we need to do is look at ourselves. For if we are good ambassadors for Christ. Then we are good example of God the father also. For if we truly have the light of Christ in us. Then it will shine from us. And all that would look for God in us, would see the light that shines from us. And they would not have to look further to find out what kind of person God is.

                                The alabaster box.

The story of the alabaster box holds some great truths to it. It has a hidden meaning for our Christian life and how we should live it.

The box resembles our flesh. We as Christians are always battling with our flesh. But when the flesh is broken, then the anointing can flow from it, just as the woman who broke open her alabaster box to anoint Jesus. Then she washed his feet with her tears and her hair. Showing also the humility that it takes to break our flesh, just like the box, so our anointing can flow. Through her humility she also showed courage. Being a woman and doing what she did, she knew she would be mocked by the men around her that did not understand why she did this. Jesus understood, and told her that her named would be remembered for what she had done.

Have you broke your alabaster box so your anointing can flow?

The woman here had to step out of her comfort zone to do what she did. We as Christians should look at this as an example. We go to church with a closed alabaster box. We sit there in our comfort zone and listen to the sermon. We may know how to go forward and pray for those who came forward, but do we? And why not? It's because our alabaster box is closed. So our anointing, compassion and our Christ like nature stay in that box and we and others around us never benefit from it ever being opened.

May the glory be to God. God bless, Issac
