Evolution's hall of shame.
Insects also migrate. Some butterflies and moths fly very long distances. For example, Monarch butterflies spend the summer in Canada and the Northern U.S. They migrate as far south as Mexico for the winter. Most migrating insects go much shorter distances. And some do use our magnetic field to navigate. It has recently been found that turtles even use our magnetic field to navigate. There's no telling how many animals use this process to find their way that we don't even know about. So the poles flip, do they survive, or die? And if this flip has happened several times in the past, there should be some hint of animal death along each geological layer of time when the flips supposedly occurred. But none is found.
